THE BAND ROTUNDA.

(.To the Editor of the Times.) Sir, — Seeing that tho Mayor has convened a public meeting for Monday evening to consider the question of a suitable memorial for Gisborne, I trust that residents of the upper portion of the town will make a point of attending. I for one do not want a repetition of the bungle made in regard to the Post office, and shall work for all I am worth to prevent a band rounda being placed near such an unsavoury locality as the mud flats near the Turanganui Bridgo. The residents of Upper Gladstone Road have too long been oblivious to their own interests, and gradually all the good things havo been grabbed by tho knowing crowd below Peel street. Of course persons residing across tho river, either at Whataupoko or Kaiti, would like to have the band rotunda on the Point, so that they might sit on their verandahs in the cool of tho evening and listen to the pleasing strains of the band. But there are many other persons to be considered, and it is rather selfish of half a dozen or more ratepayers to select a site for themselves. Howover, they will probably fif-d themselves in tho minority on Blonday evening upon the question of the Point being the most popular site for a band rotunda. —I am, etc.,
