THE BAND ROTUNDA.
(To the Editor of the Times.) Sir, —It seems to me that there is going to be some difficulty in getting a band rotunda for Gisborne, and even after the first obstacle with regard to the site is got over others are bound to crop up. For instance we have two good bands in Gisborne, and seeing prominent members of the City Band are interesting themselves in this matter, they will unquestionably require the first and prior right to use the rotunda. Now, I am informed, whether rightly so I do not know, that the Gisborne Rifles Band, being the military band, must take precedence and occupy the rotunda on all State occasions, Would it not, therefore, be as well to ascertain from the chief promoters whether the committees of the tw'o bands have met and arrived at an understanding as to their respective rights to the rotunda ? If they have done so I shall be prepared to throw in my lot with them and vote for the rotunda.—l am, etc., First Cornet.
