MELBOURNE, June 10.

In the Federal House S r G. Turner moved the second reading of the Loan and Loan Appropriation Bills, which he explained authorised the issue of a million worth of inscribed slock, to be expended chiefly in completing the buildings to be taken over from the State Governments, extending and improving the telephonic and telegraphic services The latter includes an item of fifty, thousand pounds for connecting Melbourne and Sydney by telephone.

MELBOURNE, June 10. In the Federal House, after a tong and heated debate, an additional five thousand pounds was voted to cover Lord Hopetoun’s expenses in connection with the Royal visit. In tiie course of the debate the Government was strongly condemned for the whole methods of dealing with the Governor-General’s establishment. Mr Turner promised that Parliament would be fully consulted in reference to future Governors-General.
