THE NEW VISCOUNT.
KITCHENER’S SERVICES,
By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright London, Juno C. The King has conferred on Lord Kitchener a Viscountcy, with the rank of General. Tho Parliamentary grant of fifty thousand pounds will bo moved to-day, which is the anniversary of tho grant of £30,000 made to him in 1899 for sorvices in the Soudan. The smallness of the grant compared with that mado to Lord Roberts is explained by the fact that Lord Roberts is unlikely to undertake a fresh campaign, whilst Lord Kitchener is young and unmarried, and may possibly have future opportunities for distinguished services. Lord Salisbury, the Earl of Minto, Viscount Cromer, the Sirdar of the Egyptian Army, and others in all parts of the globe have congratulated Lord Kitchener.
