Auckland, last night. Noises similar to tho booming sounds recently heard at Nelson aro often hoard. Blr Stevenson, F.G.A.S., states that aitor sevore earthquakes or eruptions at a distance they sometimes come before slight shocks, and again without any seismic disturbances. As to tho theory that the relative position of the earth and other planets has a bearing on the volcanic disturbances and earthquakes, Blr Stovonson states : “ If this bo so, and the atmospheric conditions are favorable, further disturbances may occur during the next ten days.”
