DUNEDIN NEWS.

By Telegraph—Press Association, Dunedin, last night. At the Supreme Court sittings to-day Robt. McCann was found guilty of stealing a cow at Ettrick, and was sentenced to 12 months. Another of the paint-stealing cases was dealt with, Thos. Mattheson and John Walker being charged with stealing varnish, turpentine, etc., etc. It was admitted that but for Mattheson’s foolish statement when first spoken to, that he did not assist to remove the goods, he would not have been arrested. Walker was found guilty, and sentence deferred. A verdict of not guilty was returned against Mattheson, the jury considering that he left the Court without a stain on his character.

The Otago A. and P. Society made a profit last year of £527, after paying away £BOO in prizes.
