THE ELINGAMITE. C By Telegraph—Preai Association. * Auckland last night. Among the passengers by the Elingamifce from Sydney to day was Mr C. Asamo, the Sydney representative of a well-known Japanese house, who is gathering commercial information for official purposes in Japan. SHIP IN DISTRESS. A largo full-rigged ship was reported in the Hauraki Gulf about sundown with the signal flying for a pilot. The ship was sighted by the s.s. Gienelg while coming from Wbangarei to Auckland. She wa3 under close-reefed sails, and evidently in distress. Tbo pilot left to assist, but the ship cannot roach the harbor till the morning. THE GRAND HOTEL. The Grand Hotel, burned down a year ago, has been re-opened.
