MR SEDDON IN SOUTH AFRICA.
By Tolegraph—Press Association. Wellington, last night. Sir Joseph Ward has received tho following cable from Mr Seddon, dated OraDgo rivor, 1.25 p.m., 24th May: — “ Inspected tho Ninth Contingent at Vereeniging yesterday. Tho oflicers and men and horses are all well, and are disappointed that thoy havo not yet had a brush with tho enemy. Tho officer commanding tho column spoko highly of them. “I gave a short addross and the latest Now Zealand news. "All along tho line I havo been well received. At Bloemfontein an illuminated address was presented by the Borough, expressing great satisfaction at New Zealand's action in South Africa and with regard to Imperial Federation. "I was entertained by a large numbor of New Zealanders, who are doing well. “I made a short stay at Do Aar, and Was met by tho Midland Bail way Commissioner and Director-General-of Bailways, who accompanied us right through. Wo have nothing to learn in New Zealand on railway questions. “ The peaco negotiations are satisfactory. I opino that no further contingents will bo required.”
