MR SEDDON IN SOUTH AFRICA.

He was confident that Imperial representation would be granted when demanded. CORDIAL RECEPTION BY LORDS KITCHENER AND MILNER.
(Per Press Association). WELLINGTON, last night. Mr Seddon cables to Sir Joseph Ward as follows : “ Passed a pleasant time at Pretoria. Was the guest of the Administrator. “ Had tea with Lord Kitchener, and had a- long interview witii both (Lord Kitchener and Lord Milner), yesterday. It was very satisfactory. ’They are the right men in the right place. “ To-day visited Elandsfonteiu Hospital, where there are forty-nine New Zealand patients. There are no serious cases, the ailments being chie/ly dysentery, rheumatism, and enteric. “ Lord Kitchener has sent cwonel Birdwood with us. “ General Baden-Powcll also accompanies us. The feeling for New Zealand is cordial- “ The Administrator practically admits that our land settlement conditions are the best suited for South Africa. " I am now proceeding to dereenging to inspect the Ninth Contingent. “ Time permitting, I will sec the Boer delegates. “ Had a most cordial send-off from Pretoria and Johannesburg.”
