RAILWAYS BLOCKED.

By Telegraph—Press Association. Oamaru, last night. Whilst the night train was proceeding from Dunedin to Oamaru, the trucks near the engine left the line a few chains south of Waiareka trestle-bridge. After crossing the bridge, the coupling broke, and seven or eight trucks were piled up. It will take a day to repair and clear the line. Passenger traffic will not be suspended. No one was injured. Dunedin, last night. The 4.80 goods train from Balclutha for Dunedin met with a mishap yesterday between Lovell’s Flat and Chriehton, which resulted in the derailment of’ six waggons, containing coal and produce, besides damaging the permanent way considerably. The eDgine evidently ran into a cow which had strayed on to the line, and which in the darkness had escaped the notice of the engine-driver. The line was cleared at five this morning, and passenger traffic was not seriously disorganised.
