PLIGHT FROM LE CARBET.
By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright New York, May 19. Only the tops of the trees aro visible in Caribo Country, St. Vincent, the rest being buried in the volcanic dust. The captain of the steamer Roddam has died of injuries received in the eruption at St'. Pierre.
Upper north-westerly currents of hot meeting south-westerly trade winds, caused showers of white ashes to fall at Le Carbet. The inhabitants are fleeing. The Royal Society are sending a Commission to investigate the Martinique eruption and the disturbances at St, Vincent. .
