The experience cf the last three weeks does not indicate that the progress of the epidemic has been arrested ; on the contrary, during that period (here have been twenty cases, seven of them being fatal, while in the preceding four weeks there were nineteen cases and no deaths.

Another feature is that the ] lague at the present time is more virulent, six out of seven deaths occurring before the patients could be removed to the hospital. Comparing the present outbreak with that of 1900, the death rate is slightly lower. During both outbreaks the persons seized whose ages ranged from 15 to 35 far exceeded in number those of any other age. Out of seven Chinese patients, six have died. NUMBER OF CASES IN AUSTRALIA.
