INSTALLATION OF BRO. A. SAWYER. Tho annual installation ceremony of Lodge Turanganui, No. 1480, E.C., was hdld in the Masonic Hall, Childers load, last night, when Bro. A. Sawyer was in--1 stalled as Master of tho Lodge. There was a large attendance of members and visiting brethren. Bro. W. 0. Skeet acted as Installing Master, the Master Elect being presented by Bros. S. Williams (Lodge Montrose) and R. H. Image j (Lodge Turanganui). The ceremony was a full choral one, the orchestra, under the leadership of Bro. Hookey, consisting of Bros. Bull, Ormond, Adair, Morrison, and Parnell. During the evening tho solo “ If With All Your Hearts ” waß sung by Bro. W. J. Barlow. Bro. R. Robertson, I. invested tho officers of the Lodge as follows: —S.W., Bro. D. 11. DoCosta; JAY., Bro. J. Primrose ; chaplain, Bro. W. 0. Skeet, P.M.; secretary, Bro. J. Wallace, P.M.; S.D., Bro. A. D. Robinson; J. Bro. Humphries; J.G., Bro. A. Kuchariah; organist, Bro. J. H. Ormond ; stowards, Bros. H. Williams and T. Morrison; tyler, Bro. J. Harrop. I Tho ceremony was an impressive one, and after its conclusion tho new Master received the hearty congratulation of the other Lodges and visiting brethren. During the proceedings feeiing reference was made to the bereavement which had lately fallen upon Bro. W. F, Stephenson and
his wife. Regret was also expressed as to Bio. Ritchie, tho Master of Lodge Montrose, who is ill in the hospital, and was unable to be present. After the Installation the brethren ad-
journed to the banquet hall, where Bro. J. Craig had laid out supper in his usual first-class Btylo. Justice having been dono to the good things, a toast-list was gone through. The W.M. proposed “ The King and Craft.” “ The various Grand Lodges” was also proposed, coupled with the names of Bro. W. O. Skeet (English), R. Johnston (Scotch), 11. H. Wall (N.Z.), and Bro. Hookey, Grand Organist of tho New Zealand Constitution.
Bro. Robertson proposed the toast of
“ Tho newly-installed Master and Officers,” to which Bro. Sawyer feelingly responded. Bro. Skeet proposed “ The Sister Lodges,” referring to the remarkable unanimity which had always existed among the local Lodges. Bros. Image (Abercorn) and Williams (Montrose) replied. Bro. Harding proposed “ Tho Retiring Officers,” coupled with tho name of Bro. Robertson, whose work during the year ho highly eulogised. Bro. Robertson suitably responded. Bro. Sawyer proposed “ The Installing Master ” (Bro. Skeet). Tho latter, in re-| plying, gave somo interesting reminis-
cences of local Freemasonry. Bro. M. DeCosta proposed “ The Visiting Brethren,” Bros. T. J. Dickson and Marshall responding. Bro. R. N. Jones proposed “The Ladies,” which was responded to by Bro. J. Georgeson, who made a plea for the ladies to be included in somo of tho Lodgo’s social gatherings, and Bro. A. D. B. Robinson ably supported him. The Tyler’s toast concluded the list. During the evening, songs were contributed by Bros. Barlow, Woodward, Paltridge, Zaohariah, Sawyer, and John-
ston, and a mandolin solo was given by Bro. J. H. Ormond. Bros. Hookey and E. Parnell presided at the piano.
