By, .telegraph—Press AssociationCopyright. MADRID, May 19. Gabriel Lopedz, an insurance company’s messenger, has been arrested at Madrid with nine dynamite cartridges in his possession. He confessed that they were given to him to throw at King Alfonso. Other fellow-conspirators arrested include a student, a printer, a joiner, and a mason.
Alfonso took oath before the members of the Cortes. The Te Deum was sung in the Francisco Church, where a magnificent medieval procession was arranged. The newspapers which published Don Carlo’s manifesto, emphasising the loss of the colonies, have been suppressed.
