Wellington, last night. For the first day of the Wellington Trotting Club’s meeting the weather was showery. The course was heavy. Tickets on all races were 10s. The results were :
Trial Handicap.—Zinska 1, Perewiti 2, Lady Brook 3. Divs. £1 3s and £7 17s, Railway Handicap.—King Georgo 1, Cob 2, Jessie L 3. Divs. £1 4s and 11s.
Pony Handicap.—Pukeori 1, Dick 2, Shamrock 3. Div. 19s.
Trotting Club Handicap.—Lady Retfori 1, Czarina 2,-Black Child 3. Divs. j£'3 5s and 7s.
District Handicap.—Zinska 1, Sleevelink 2, Temi Te 3. Divs. 18s and £1 14s. Pony Handicap.—Shamrock 1, Pukeori 2, Dick. Divs. 17s and 4s. A protest against the winner for alleged inconsistency was dismissed. Dash Handicap.—Polly 11. 1, Leda 2, Floria 3. Div. £3 7s.
Telegraph Handicap.— : Silvercliffe J Lady Retford 2. Divs. 17s and 6s.
