MOST CORDIAL RECEPTION. PERSONALLY MET BY THE HERO OF MAFEKING. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, last night. Sir Joseph Ward has received the following cable from the Premier, dated Durban, Saturday :

“ Arrived. Received a most cordial weleome from Lord Milner and Lord Kitchener. The State Governors and Premiers sent letters and representatives. Baden-Powell personally met mo. “ Unable to catch Kildonar, and intend to spend a week in South Africa.

“Have received an address from the town, and also from the Yorkshire and Lancashire Societies.

“ The Tenth Contingent are well. They lost eight horses.

“ Proceed to Johannesburg to-morrow. Colonel Davis,, Captain Seddon, and many other New Zealanders are here.”
