The Queen subscribed five hundred pounds, accompanied by a letter expressing deep sympathy. The Lord Mayor of Liverpool -.has opened a list.
Jamaica has voted a thousand pounds for the St' Vincent and Martinique funds, and Seychelles two hundred pounds for the St. Vincent fund. The Bank of England has added five hundred pounds sterling to the Bank of France’s Martinique list. The latter Bank subscribed a thousand. A FRESH CRATER IN MOUNT PELEE. A large ridge lias risen on the Richmonl estate at St. Vincent, presaging another eruption. Worshippers at St. Pierre were asphyxiated. Their attitudes were undisturbed. Fifty looters at St. Pierre, one in possession of ten thousand francs in gold, were sentenced eacli to live years imprisonment. Mount Pelee’s enormous flashes were visible at Fort de France last Thursday and the night following. Yesterday it was covered with thick clouds of glowing red, interspersed with flashes and showers of cinders.
There are now ample supplies of provisions and disinfectants.
Three thousand people are receiving relief at St. Vincent.
The eruption is decreasing.
