At the Southland Provincial Conference of the Farmers’ Union on Saturday a motion to ask Government to carry the products of land at the railway rates on Lake Wakatipu when a Government steamer is provided was carried. It was resolved that honorary members be charged half ordinary entrance fee ; also that a Colonial Conference fix the life members' fee. A draft of proposed rules for the Union, for submission to the Colonial Conference, was presented, and was more or less approved of. Mr JohnMcQueen was elected President.
