(Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, last night. The Lacrosse Association has decided to send two teams on a Southern tour at the end of the season. The Auckland branch of the Accoun tents’ and Auditors’ Association resolved that Sir Joseph Ward be asked to legislate early next session for the introduction of two new coins, tile cpnt and mille ; that the florin, cent, ana mille become statutory moneys of account, and also for the adoption of .the metric system of' weights and measures. INVERCARGILL, last night. The total quantity of grain, principally oats, carried over Southland railways this season to date is 257,11)0 sacks, or over a million bushels. Special freight trains are running almost every night. NAPiER, last night. At a meeting of the A. and r. Society to-day it was resolved, on the motion of the Hon. J. D. Ormond, that this Society is of the opinion that, with the object of improving the breed of horses in New Zealand, a tax should be placed on all entire horses used as stallions, and that all entires standing at the service of the public ski uld be examined annually by a competent inspector. The balancesheet of the autumn show disclosed a loss of less than £-10, which, unden tin extremely adverse circumstances, was regarded as very satisfactory. NEW PLYMOUTH, last night. 'I he Assessment Court' sat to-day, and generally upheld the Government Valuer’s valuations, holding that the recent sale at high prices was not of t’:e nature of a boom.
