' By Telegraph —Press Association, f Wellington, last night. The Agent-General’s cablegram, dated • London, 3rd inst., is as follows: —“ The i mutton market is firm ; stocks are light, 1 and firmly held in a few hands. The . average price of Canterbury is 4d ; Dunedin, Southland, and Wellington Meat Export Company, 3 7-8 d; other North Island pricos, 3ijd; Australian, 3:]d ; River Plate, 3jjd. The lamb market is speculative ; stocks are heavy, and there is an inclination to force sales. The weather lately has been very unfavorable to the sale of lamb. The average price of Canterbury brands is sd, New Zealand (other than Canterbury) 4fd. There are signs of improvement. Beef is firm, the supplies of American chilled being small; j New Zealand hinds 5 1 Bd, fores 4 3 Bd, MJutter is dull of sale ; heavy shipments | are expected from Siberia. Prices : New Zealand 103 s, Danish 107 s, Siberian 955. Cheese is very firm at 58s, with small supplies on hand. Hemp is steady at i£37, May and July shipments are quoted at JE32. The stock amounts to 342 tons, against 208 last year. Cocksfoot seed is steady, Now Zealand 171 b standard 475.”
