SUPREME COURT.
(Beforo Hfs Honor Mr Justico Edwards.) The hearing of the Wangaromia No. 3 cases was concluded yesterday morning, and tho cases were then, as was previously indicated, reserved for argument at tho Court of Appeal. Two cases against the Assets Company, affecting ltangatira No. 2, were taken, the plaintiffs being Teira Ranginui and others in one case, and Heni Tipuna and others in the other case. Mr W. L. Rees and Mr R. N. Jones appeared for the plaintiffs, and Mr C. A.DeLautour for the defendant company. These claims arose out of native' land transactions, and it was alleged that the steps taken by the company to perfect its titles were not in conformity with the Native Land Aots. Formal evidence was given by the District Land Registrar and by the Registrar and Clerk of the Native Land Court, and the Gazettes were put in. Mr Rees then said that he would close bis case, but as the defendants had pleaded in tho affirmative defenco he contended that the other eide should proceed with their evidence, and that he (Mr Rees) would have tho right to qall rebutting evidence. His Honor upheld this contention, and after Mr DeLautour had raised a non-suit point, Messrs A. Graham, Patullo, and J. Orr were examined for the defence, and the record of a previous similar action was put in, Mr Rees stated that he would call Wi Pere, and the case was adjourned until 10 this morning. It is expected that the case will be completed this morning. It was stated that the evidence in the other cases would also likely be finished to-day unless Natives had to be examined,
