CORONATION CELEBRATIONS.

THE preparations.

At the Borough Council last night the 1 hjayor referred to the subject of the Coro- ( qation colebrations. He said that Mr Carroll bad made a good suggestion, that a < great gathering of school children —town and country—should be held at the Park, while a luncheon, with public speaking, might take place at Ormond. The object was to have as wide an interest as possible taken in the preparations and suggestions would gladly be accepted. All travelling by train on that day would be free. Cr Lysnar asked if they could have a two days’ affair, one specially for the children, but the Mayor said they must have the celebrations all ou one day. Cr Jones suggested that they get citizens generally to join in tho preparations, as well as members of public bodies. The Mayor said that the Chamber of Commerce had suggested a public meeting to consider the matter. It was agreed to hold a public meeting next Tuesday at the Masonic sample rooms.
