MUCH CONFUSION CAUSED.

Much confusion has been caused by a cablegram announcing that the Commonwealth agreed to penny postage to Australia from ail parts of the British Em--1 ire. The Postmaster-General states that no such arrangement was made, and the old rates of postage prevail.

Sydney, April 26. The cable dealing with postage to Australia evidently refers to the decision of the Federal Government not to make a surcharge on letters bearing a penny stamp.
