N.Z. RUGBY UNION.

TESTIMONIAL TO MR A. DE COSTA.

(Per Press Associativa.) WELLINGTON, last night. The annual general meeting of the New Zealand Rugby Union was held to-night. All the affiliated Unions except Wairarapa and Taranaki were represented. The Manawalu Rugby Union was re-admitted to membership. The report and balance-sheet were adopted. Lord Ranfurly was re-clcct-ed as Patron, and Mr J. T. AI. Hayhurst was elected President. Thd vice Presidents nominated by the affiliated Unions were formerly elected. As Mr A. M. DeCosta is leaving for England he declined nomination for the secretaryship, and Mr A. C. Norris was elected to fill the position. Mr Hyam was re-elected treasurer.

A long discussion took place as to the manner of disposing of the Ranfurly Cup. The question was finally referred to a committee to report. The Canterbury Union’s motion in favor of approaching the English Rugby Union to facilitate the visit of a team from New Zealand was postponed, with other business, until Friday netxt. The delegates passed a resolution expressing appreciation of Mr DeCosta’s services as secretary, and voted him £25.
