LATE NEW ZEALAND NEWS.
A PRESENTATION.

Auckland, last night. To-day tho staff and officers of the Auckland Harbor Board made a presentation to Mr Malcolm Niccol on the eve of his departure for Wellington as Secretary of the Grand Lodge of Freemasons, Mr Brigham (Secretary of the Harbor Board) said that Mr Niocoi had been a member of the Board for upwards of twenty-five years. He had beep Chairman of the Board, he thought, six or eight times. The presentation consisted of a silver spirit stand and travelling case. Mr Niceol suitably replied, and the Mayor (Mr Alfred Kidd) eulogised the personal qualities of Mr Niccol, and said that by his departure Auckland’s loss would be Wellington’s gain.
GOLD RETURNS,
The gold returns from the mines of Auckland district for the last three weeks shew a total of £57,649, which brings the gross output for the first tfiree months of the year to £189,113. The total for the first quarter of 1901 was £146,686.
FOOTBALL.
Wanganui, last night. At a meeting of the Management Committee of the Wanganui Rugby Union to-night, a motion in favor of sending a team to England in 1903 was carried. Four new clubs were affiliated, which makes the number of teams sufficient to entitle the Union to au increase in the number of votes on the New Zealand Union. The delegates were instructed to support the re-election of the- present secretary ef the New Zealand Union.
CHRISTCHURCH CATHEDRAL.
CHRItJTGHURCH, lasi iagtit. Some time ago Canon Pollock, who recently came to this colony from England, was appointed .to organise a fund for completing the Christchurch Cathedral. He refused to accept the remuneration. Now, however, fie has had additional expenses, and seeks for a cure as his private means are not sufficient to allow him to earn anything. The Christchurch authorities, however, consider that the appointment to the cure would be incompatible with the present duties. Canon Pollock therefore decided to return to England at the beginning of next year. The siim C’f alwu t £lsoi) has been collected for the Cathedral tifiCE the new movement began some months a S°r but a total of £7OOO is needed.
THREE DIVORCE CASES,,
DUNEDIN, last night. In the Supreme Court to-day a~decree nisi was granted in three'divorce cases—Gore v. Gore and Stewart on the husband's petition ; Wallace v. Wallace, on the husband’s petition ; and Adam v. Adam and Lissen, also on the husband’s petition. There was no appearance in this case of the respondent or co-respondent.
