THE RAILWAY LINE,

(By Telegraph—Press Association.) Wellington, last night. Plans have been prepared by the Railway Department for a connecting line of railway from Bunnythorpe to Ashhurst. The connection will effect a considerable saving in mileage. ODDFELLOWS. A CLAIM SETTLED., DUNEDIN, last night.

The Supreme Court was engaged this morning with a case in which W. Plowe claimed £337 from William IL Cook (Cook and Gray) for work done in connection with the clearing up and liquidation of the Guthrie and other companies, and for tho transfer of 00 fully paid up shares in Notowa Creek Dredging Company. It was admitted that £23(1 was due after the case had been opened at some length. It was intimated after lunch that a settlement had been arrived at, the terms of which were not made known.

SANITARY INSPECTOR,

Wanganui, last night. At a joint meeting of the Wanganui Borough Council and the Wanganui and Waitotara County Councils to-night it was decided to accede to the Health Department’s proposal that a Sanitary Inspector for the three bodies be appointed. The Borough Council will pay ,£9O and the Comity Councils £45 each. The Inspector will be under the direct control of the Health Department.

Nelson, last night Mrs Marshall, who with her husband and some of their family have resided at the port for some few years, stroked along Wakefield quay fhis evening, and rested on one of the seats, where she was a little later found dead.
