PRAYERS FOR RAIN.

By telegraph—Press Association— Copyright. BRISBANE, April 17. To-day was observed as a day of special prayer for rain. The services in all the churches were largely attended.

Telegrams from Adelaide muicate a terrible condition of affairs in Central Australia owing to the severity of the drought. It is reported Diat for hun-. dreds of miles around the Barrow telegraph station there is a complete absence of water and fauna. Aboriginals have been unable to find means of subsistence, and are dying from starvation.
