THE ADDINGTON MARKET.
[By Telegraph—Press Association.] Christchurch, last night. The Addington sales took place to-day. Eat cattle : 183 were yarded, mostly unfinished sorts, many of which wero passed, but anything prime sold at an advance. Beef was ruling at 19s 6d to 255. Prime steers, US to £9 5s ; others, £6 10s to £1 10s. Prime heifers, £1 10s to £8 7s 6d ; others, £5 10s to £7. Prime cows, £7 10s to £9 15s ; others, £5 7s 6d to £7.
Store cattle : 350 were yarded, mostly good sorts. There was a keen demand for calves at 16s ; 15 to 18-months, £2 6s to £3 Ils ; 2-year-old steers, £3 14s, and £3 15s to £4 10s ; heifers, .£3 12s 6d ; 21-year-old steers, £5 Is ; heifers, £5 ; 3-year-old steers, £5 2s to £5 7s 6d ; heifers, £5 12s 6d ; mixed 3 and 4-year-old steers, £7 Is ; heifers, £6 ss. Dry cows brought £1 2s 6d to £3 15s.
Dairy cows: About 80 were yarded. The best sorts wero enquired for at £7 10s to £9 2s 6d, up to £lO ; others, £3 5s to £7.
Eat sheep : 4500 were yarded, mostly good lines of wethers and ewes. There was keen enquiry for wethers. The best went up to 18s 6d ; good, 15s to 17s 9d. For ewes there was rather an irregular sale. Extra prime went up to 18s ; prime, 15s to 17s 6d ; medium, 12s to 14s 6d ; inferior, 8s 6d to 10s 6d. ,
Fat lambs.—2332 were yarded, including many secondary sorts. Late rates were fully upheld. Exporters took 1454 at 10s to 13s, the average being 12s 3d. Butchers t'ook 234 at 7s to 10s lOd, the average being 10s. Graziers took 138 at 9s to 10s 7d, and 506 were passed at 12s 6d, to go to the factory on the vendors’ account.
Store Sheep.—l6,ooo, mostly wethers and lambs, wore yarded. Forward wethers were in demand, and good lambs rose 6d to 9d. Ewes were not so much sought after. Forward wethers realised 14s to 15s 4d, good sorts 12s 3d to 13s lOd, and backward 6s 7d to 11s 6d. Mixed wethers and ewes brought 11s 6d to 12s 2d ; twotooth ewes, 13s sd; two and four-tooths, 10s Id; six and eight-tooths, 10s Id to 11s lid ; eight-tooths, 103 2d ; and aged, 3s 5d to 6s 6d. Forward lambs brought 8s to 9s 6d; backward, 4s 6d to 7s 6d. Pigs.—oso were yarded. Fats were firmer, and Southern buyers took 200 for Studholme, Oamaru, and Dunedin. Strong stores were improved in price. Baeoners realised 34s to 48s, or 3jd to 31d by weight. Porkers brought 22s to 325, or 3Jd to 4d. Big stores wore at 20s to 255; smaller, 12s 6d to 18s. Suckers and weaners, 3s to Bs.
