The tariff committee placed ten per cent, duty on empty wine and oeer bottles, and two pence per dozen ton bottles containing goods not exceeding nine fluid ounces not subject to ad valorem, Hickory spokes were made free. r I he House is now discussing a proposal by Mr Manifold to admit all New Zealand undressed pine free. It was urged that it would only come into competition with timber used in the manufacture of butter boxes, and that there was not sufficient of such timber produced in Queensland to meet the requirements.
