WELLINGTON HARBOR BOARD.
IMPORTANT, RECOMMENDATIONS (Per Press Associatiui.) .WELLINGTON, last night, At a meeting of the Harbor Board to-day the secretary was instructed to enquire from the local Fire Insurance Association, and from Lloyd’s agents, the cost of insuring the wnarves. It was also decided that a Bill be prepared and introduced into Parliament next session to enable the Board to consolidate its various- loans and provide further borrowing powers, so as to enable the Board to carry, out large works they had in contemplation, including the purchase of a dredge, dredging operations, and the widening and extension of the railway, wharf. Under the Bill provision will be made for enlarging Queen’s wharf, erecting a wharf at the foot of Taranaki street, and providing further accommodation ior ferry steamers. The Board also adopted the following recommendations of the Dredge Plant Committee :—(I) To obtain a powerful dredger capable of lifting for a depth of 42ft., arranged so that the spoil can be used for reclamation purposes ; (2) that the Engineer visit' Australia, and enquire into the various types of pumping dredges in use there, with a view to making definite recommendation as to what type of dredger should be adopted,
