GREY STATUE.

[By Telegraph—Tress Association.] Auckland, last night

At a meeting of the Sir George Grey Statue Committee held this afternoon, the treasurer reported that the funds in hand from all sources amount to .£1440, and he estimated that between £4OO and £SOO was needed to complete the work. The photos of the statue as advanced were received and approved of, and it was resolved to cable to the sculptor to proceed with the work; also to obtain a price from the sculptor for a pedestal, which was to be procured locally, and be of New Zealand stone. The correspondence showed that the grant from the Government towards the work was in the hands of the Agent-General for payment to sculptor, and that the Government had approved of the arrangement.
