LIFE AT WANGANUI.

(Per Press Association.) WANGANUI, last night. A somewhat sensational arrest was made yesterday at noon, when an elderly man named Ward was arrested in the registry office, when about to be married, on a charge of failing to provide for three illegitimate children of a woman with whom he formerly lived. He was brought before the Magistrate and remanded till this morning, but yesterday afternoon the line was paid by the bride, and the accused was released, and the event duly solemnised this morning. Recently a cross-action for assault was heard, the two women above implicated being the parties.
