NELSON NEWS.
SECONDARY SCHOOLS. By Telegraph—Press Association. Nelson, last night. An interviow took place to day between the membors of the Town School Committee and local members of the Legislature, relative to the establishment of a high school. On behalf of tho committee, discontent was expressed in consequence’ of the establishment of high schools in other places and not in Nelson, but it was explained that Nelson, possessing an instistution for secondary education, tho Minister had said the question of providing high schools waß of such magnitude that tho provision of high sohools in towns where secondary education is provided must stand over till considered by Parliament. It was stated that the College Governors had offered to provide education for fifty scholars from primary schools on payment by the State of five guineas annually each, and it was resolved to urge Government to accept this offer. ASSAULTING AN ASSYRIAN.
A man named Brunning was fined 40s for assaulting an Assyrian hawker. Defendant said he waß provoked by an inßulfc offered by the Assyrian.
