Palmerston North News.

By Telegraph—Press Association. Palmerston North, last night.

A mounted company is being formed here. It is expected that the Manawatu, Horovvhenua, Otaki, Feilding, and Huntorville Companies will be in camp. A course of severe training will be given the men by Major ' Dunk, who will be in charge. The infantry left by special train tonight for Wanganui, where they go into camp with other sections of the battalion. General Babington will review the mounted troops at Palmerston on Saturday. The officers of the Stock Department have been busy all day examining remounts for the Tenth Contingent. A good stamp of animal is offering, and plenty of them. To-day has been intensely hot, and there is every promise of fine weather for the holidays.
