A’ Japanese-Chinese Bank is being formed to compete with the RussoChine.se Bank in Manchuria.
Some premises occupied by British subjects in Yokohama have been distrained by the authorities, the occupants declining to pay house tax. The Princess of Wales launched the battleship Prince of Wales at Chatham and the Prince of Wales laid the keelplate of the firsbulass cruiser Devonshire.
In the House of Commons-, Mr Chamberlain announced the appointment of a Deputy-Commissioner to reside in the New Hebrides and watcli the interests of the British residents.
Lord Wolseley commands the Colonial Contingent at the Coronation. Their headquarters will be Alexandra Palace. NEW YORK, March 26.
General Palm a assumes the Presidency and entire control of Cuba on May 20th. American ofliicials and forces withdraw, but the artillery and a few coast garrisons remain until the Cuban forces are organised.
