In the Federal House Mr Barton stated that Government did not intend to ask for a recommittal of the tea duties. They believed it to be necessary to reimpose a duty to prevent financial embarrassment of some States. -If any further proposals were made they would be taken by next session. Government bad dropped the Defence and Interstate Commission Bill.
