[BT TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION - .] Nelson, last night.

Out of twenty-one applications from various parts of the colony, Miss E. M. Ribson has been appointed assistant teacher at the Girls' College. At the City Council meeting to-night, in answer to a requisition from the burgesses and another from all but- one of the councillors, Mr Henry Baigent consented to nomination as a candidate for the office of Mayor for a second term. Councillor Piper is also announced as a candidate.
