By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, last night. Mr H. Beauchamp has beon re-ap-pointed director of the Bank of New Zealand for a term of two years. The lady who was removed from the Monowai on Saturday on suspicion of suffering from small-pox was to-day liberated from the plague hospital. Mr Gow, New Zealand Trade Comissioner, who has been some time in Great Britain is about to proceed to, China and Japan. At a meeting of citizens to-day, presided over by the Mayor, it was decided that a subscription list be opened for the purpose of making a presentation to Police Inspector Pender who is about to retire from the service.

At a meeting of the Council of the Chamber of Commerce to-day a resolution was passed congratulating the Post-master-General upon landing the Pacifio cable at Doubtless Bay. The Wakamarina Golden Point dredge yielded 290 z Bdwt for 120 hours’ work.
