BISLEY TEAM. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, last night. The New Zealand rifle toam for Bisloy will leave the colony about April 24. The personnel of the team has not yet been finally decided. A PECULIAR CASE. At the Magistrate’s Court to-day Douglas Humphreys, car conductor on the city tramways, was admitted to probation, after pleading guilty to theft of a purse containing £1 9s. In this ease a woman found the purse in a car, and handed it to him to give it to the authorities. He did not do this, but divided the contents with the driver of the car, David Anderson. The latter, who was coupled in the charge, pleaded not guilty. Humphries, in his evidence, stated that he had given Anderson 14s 6d on tho latter’s suggestion. Counsel for Anderson R3ked that the case should go to the jury, as Humphries was an incredible witness, he having had the prospect of lenient treatment by probation if he incriminated the driver. The Magistrate decided to grant the application for committal. FORGERY.
Edward Williams was to-day committed to trial for forging and uttering a cheque for £5 to a draper who supplied him with clothing.
