The Standard’s Pretoria correspondent states that Schalkburger and others have been at Rhenoster-kop for the past week, where they were greatly harried by Colonel Park. Once they narrowly escaped capture, The position became increasingly hopeless. Despatch riders on Friday night announced the delegates, who arrived at Balmoral under escort, on Saturday. After interviewing Lord Kitchener at Pretoria they proceeded to Kroonstad, whence they go out under safe conduct. The party look well, giving evidence of the healthiness of life on the veil. Other advices state that Schalkburger and Reitz intend meeting Steyn and De Wet, and possibly De la Rey. The impression in London is that-, whatever the result, while a general, simultaneous surrender is possible, it is highly improbable. The silence regarding Botha is commented on.
