The Farmers’ Union passed resolutions urgin'* the reduction of railway freight on manures, the speedy opening of Native lands, iibo speedy construction of the Mam Trunk Railway, protesting against the withdrawal of the option to purchase the Kawhia lands, in favor of a preferential tariff for British goods, in favor of the ] adoption of a decimal system of weights, with the object of ultimately adoptmg the Metric system when public becomes accustomed to it, and advising members of the Union to vote at Parliamentary elections only for these candidates who support the platform of the Union. The question of urging the Government to adopt the Canadian system of land tenure was referred to the Colonial Conference to be held at Wellington.
