THE TENTH.
| Special to Times. | Auckland, last night.
The North Island battalion of the Ninth Contingent was most enthusiastically farewelled from our shores this afternoon. They were indeed the finest body of men that has left New Zealand. All the Gisborne boys were in the best of spirits, their farewell message being remembrance to their relatives and friends at Gisborne.
Arthur Cooper, who arrived from Gisborne last week and was rejected from the Gisborne lot of the Fourth Contingent, enlisted hero last night, and proceeded with the Ninth this afternoon.
J. Langham, of Gisborne, who anticipated leaving with the Ninth to-day, through some unfortunate circumstances did not leave to-day, but will take his departure with the Tenth Contingent. T. Erskine and D. Ryan, of Gisborne, are also joining the Tenth Contingent here.
