HAWKE’S BAY RACES.
By Telegraph—Press Association. Napier, last night. The second day’s racing of the Hawko’s Bay Jockey Club’s Autumn Meeting took place to-day. The weather was all that could be desired, and the attendance large, The fields were rather better than on the first day, and one or two of the finishes were very close. The chief interest centred in the Hawke’s Bay Stakes, in which Mr O. O. Stead’s flying colt Royal Artillery was a starter. The com-manding-looking son of Hotchkiss and Rose of Wellington created a favorable impression by his appearance, but this was nothing to the way he impressed the onlookers when ho was galloping. He is probably the fastest colt ever seen on the course, and ho put up a colonial record for tho six furlongs and a half, which ho traversed in lmin 20sec, winning with
consummate ease. The sum of £5533 was invested on thq totaiisator during tho day, making a total of £10,149 for tho two dayb. The following are the results March Handicap, one mile.

for live furlongs when Tradewind took command, and stalling off a challenge by Okoari, won by a long nock, Reliance a good third. Time 1.44, divs. £2 9s and 11s.

Second Handicap Hurdles, If miles. 52 Scallywag, 11.3, Mitchell... ... 1 223 Tirea, 12.0, Gallagor 2 86 Cobra, 9.0, Redmond 3 Also started : 13 Missfire, 147 Stockade, 71 Rodara, Sylvanus (bracketed with Cobra), 8 Chris. Tirea made the pace for half the journey, when Scallywag went to the front, and won by two lengths. Time, 3.22. Divs., £7 15s and 12s. A protest was entered against Soallywag on tho ground of inconsistent running, but was dismissed.

TOLAGO BAY RACES.
(By Telephone.) (Special to Times.) Tolago Bay, yesterday. The annual races were held to-day, and were a great success, though speculatiqn was not as large aB last year. The weather was beautiful, the attendance was large, and everything passed off splendidly. The results were

Bradshaw got away best, Knight Templar last. Cronje lead the field. A good race ensued down the straight, Tcha winning by half a length, Cronje and Knight Templar close up. Geologist was first away, and soon had a lead of two lengths. The Miner made a great effort, but Geologist won by half a length, Lady Raven a length behind The Miner. 55 The Miner, 9.0, Mitchell... ... 2 17 Lady Raven, 7.8 3 Only the three faced the starter, and this was a grand race. The Miner showed to the front, but was over hauled by Mediums and Lady Raven, who ran together.
At the turn for borne all three were level. After a good race, Medallius won by two lengths, the saino distance separating second and third. Time 2.14 3-5, totalisator .6154, div. 41 13s. Hack Race, of 10 sovs; 1 mile.
