HEALTHY TONE OF WOOL SALES.

At the wool sales, there was spirite competition, with a hardening tendency.

' The Bank of England returns show the stock of coin to be .£85,298,000 ; reserve, £'26,862,000; proportion of reserve to liabilities, 46'30 ; in circulation, £28,063,000; public deposits, £38,937,000; other deposits, £38,818,000; Government securities, £33,108,000. Throe months’ bills arc discounted at 2 11-1(5. Consols are at 94J. Colonial stocks are unchanged in price. The wheat markets are quiet, with rather an easy tendency. Cargoes are steadily held. Adelaide November and December parcels afloat are at 29s Bd.
The American visible supply is estimated at 92,799,000 bushels. Copper is steady; spot, 54,] ; throe months, 112 j. The tin market is weaker ; spot, 115 i ; three months, 112-J. Iron, Oils 3d ; load, 11 15 32. The sugar market is dull; German, 6s 4id; first marks, Bs. Wool: There was keen competition. Fine merinos are slightly harder, owing to Continental support. Bradford tops are firm, but unchanged in price. The butter market is dull. New Zealand is at 108 s to 110 s ; Danish, 110 s to Il2s.
Cheese is very firm. Now Zealand, 53s Canadian, 555. Supplies are short.
