Palmerston North, last night. The annual convention of the W.C.T.U. opened yesterday. There were delegates from all parts of New Zealand. An address of welcome was delivered by several clergymen and the President of the local branch.' To-day, the Conference had an address from Mrs Atkinson, President of the Now Zealand branch, in which she discussed the work of the year and future prospects. The afternoon session was taken up with the Corresponding beeietary’s report, and a paper by Miss McCarthy, of Dunedin, on Auxiliary Unions: Their Needs.” Discussion took place re appointing an organiser. Mrs Hill, of Napier, was appointed to draw up a scheme on a basis of contributions from various branches. The report of the . Educational Committee was also read and discussed. .
