Fop tho first fifty of the Mftstorton Facing Club’s meeting there was a large attendance and boautiful weather, and the course was in excellent order. Tho re-
sults wero : Hack Hurdles : Eucharist 1, Pukana 2, Great Scott 3. Mourner, Gipsy Jack, Cassiruir, and Puraau also started. Won easily by a length. Divs., £5 7s and £1 7s. Maiden Hack : Waitenga 1, The Guesser 2, Keport 3. All started except Hineltura. Won oasily. Divs., £2 9s and 17s. Masterton Hack Cup : Platypus 1, Boko 2, Shrapnel Shell 3. Velocity, the only other starter, was left at the post, and took no part in tho race. Div., £2 18s. St. Patrick’s Handicap: Calceolaria 1, Bobol 2, Van 3. Volley, Benefactor, Topake, General Wolfe, and Westerly also started. Won by two lengths.. Benefactor was last. Time 3.11, divs. £4 Is and 163. Telegraph Hack : Pure Silver Platypus 2, Tho Rioter 3. Also started : Ivereru, Valkyrie, and Lady Ascot. Time 1.19 4 5, divs. £7 9s and £1 os. Ladies’ Bracelet : Cavalier 1, Hinekura 2, Makahi 3. Also started : Grey Gown and Baemain. Div. £4 13s.
March Handicap : Greensleeve 1. Turepo 2, Buamahunga 3. Also started : General Wolfe. Div. £3 Bs. Dash Hack : Spun Gold 1, Diplomat 2, Engarde 3. Won by ft length. Divs. £2 5s and £1 13s. Previous to the start of the race the stewards held an enquiry to docide whether or not Spun Gold was eligible to start. Tho stewards decided in the affirmative, and notice to that effect was posted on tho grounds. After tho race a protest was lodged against Spun Gold. The stakes and totalisator money were impounded, and a decision will be given to-morrow. A total of 414448 was put through the totalisator during the day.
