WESLEY CHURCH.

Yesterday was a busy day at Wesley Church. Several workers gave the whole day and a larger number the afternoon, and a working-bee was organised by which the old shingles were taken oft' the schoolroom and a good iron roof put on.

Presentations,

In the evening, a choir social was held in the schoolroom, and was attended by the choir and. their friends. Advantage was taken of this to make a present to the organist, Mr C. .J. East. This consisted of a chaste and beautiful morocco purse or pocket book, the small pocket of which was filled with sovereigns. In making the presentation, the Rev. B. F. Rothwell referred to the long and faithful services so cheerfully rendered by Mr East to the Church, and dwelt specially on his loyalty, which had been tested and found true. Mr East returned thanks in a neat and suitable speech Mr Rothwell then presented the choirmaster with a nicely framed enlargement of the photograph of the choir. Mr Burrow, in returning thanks, said that his relations with both choir and organist had been most cordial, and he hoped they would continue so for some time to come. The evening was spent in games, songs, and social chat, everyone enjoying themselves thoroughly. The following programme was submitted at intervals : Song, Miss Foster ; song, Mrs Vincent; song, Mr Wilkinson ; song, MrEllerbeck ; duet, Miss Langford and Mr Vowles; duet, Messrs R. and C. Piesse; and a recitation by Miss Langford.
