A FIRE,

[liY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION'.] Dunedin, last night,

A stove at Nuscby, the property of James Dawson, was burnt down this afternoon, and the contents mostly destroyed. The building was insured for 13130 in the National, and the stock for £l5O in the Victoria Office. DESTITUTE CHILDREN.

At the inquest to day on an infant who died in a licensed home, the medical man impressed on the jury the desirability of bringing under the notice of the Government the necessity for providing proper medical care for children of destitute persons. Someone should have authority to send for a medical man at once, such sending being too often loft till the child was at the point of death. The jury expressed a hope that the Coroner would bring the matter under the notice of the authorities.
