Fire Brigades’ Conference.
[BY TELEQKAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] HOKITIKA, last night. The brigade delegates had a splendid outing on Lake Mahinipua yesterday, and were delighted with tho novolty of the excursion and the beauty of the scenery of the creeks and lake. They returned to town at 9 p.m. The Conference concluded to-day. It was decided to hold the next Conference at Wanganui, the majority in favor being large, A gold star each was awarded to ex-Captain McGregor, cf Grey, and Captain Sinclair, of Wannate. The election of officers resulted: President, Mr Walter, Grey; vice-presidents, Messrs Washer (Eosslyn), Wynne (Lawrence); secretary, Mr Gilberd, Napier ; auditor, Mr Garner, Hawera. The Accident Assurance Society is now sitting. The fire escape trials are taking place this afternoon. The delegates will be enterteamed at a ball this evening, and leave for North early in the morning. At Greymouth they will be entertained at a luncheon, and other functions will be held in their honor. Splendid weather is prevailing.
