PERSONAL.

At Tolago Bay on Wednesday, Messrs J. B. Morris and W. E. Holder were sworn in as Justices of the Peace.

A conversazione will be held by the parishioners of Holy Trinity on Tuesday evening, in the Academy ,of Music, as a welcome to the Bishop of Waiapu. Trooper E. Richardson, who paid his own passage across to South Africa, there joined the Canadian Scouts. Recent letters state that he has been in the rough of the fighting, but although his mate was shot beside him, the Gisborne trooper had so far escaped injury, and was in the best of health. His first term of service was up, and he had gone on for a further period, which has now nearly expired. The marriage of Mr Win. Gibson, of the Gisborne Times staff, to Miss Jane Cooper, niece of Mr Wm. Cooper, of Wainui, took place at Mr Cooper’s residence, on Tuesday last. Tho ceremony was conducted by Rev. J. G. Paterson, in the presence of the intimate friends and relations of the contracting parties. The bride, who was given away by her uncle, was attired in a pretty dress of white silk, with chiffon trimmings, and wreath of orange blossoms. She carried a pretty bouquet. The bridesmaids were Misses Maud and Emily Cooper, the young ladies being dressed in pretty white muslin dresses, with fichus. Mrs Cooper wore a handsome dress of black and white silk, and Miss Cooper an exceedingly pretty dress of white muslin, with fichu. At the conclusion of the ceremony the wedding party and visitors were entertained at afternoon tea, and tho happly couple left for the Puatao station early in the afternoon.
